The idea for my involvement in the Starless Vagabonds game project (which went by a slightly different name at that time) came about in 2018. Going through several iterations and concepts, this collection of music is a testament to the challenges I needed to overcome, attempting to incorporate my intensely experimental approach to ambient and electronic music into something not only plot and idea driven, but also much more appealing to a wider range of listeners. Here we are then, four years later, with the most varied and longest collection of tracks I've ever produced.
Each composition is based around a concept - be it in relation to events transpiring within the game story or the broader ideas, moods and impressions from the fictional world. My wish was to musically accompany the game in the most complete way possible but also to have this music carry themes and feelings beyond the confines of a finite gameplay experience. This way, by chance, the hard work of writers, graphic artists and developers could be retrospectively enjoyed for longer time and the memories of Starless Vagabonds relived far into the future.
